Well, after the last several weeks of inclement weather (rain, wind, thunderstorms, tornados and hail!) we are certainly ready to see the sun break through the clouds! It has been a really odd year for weather so far, but luckily we have been (mostly) unscathed with our crops.
We have completed most of our late Spring field activites ~ spraying, fertilizing, pruning males, and thinning are just a few chores that are now finished. The Tulare Giants are now set, albeit a little on the light side, and the kiwi buds that just finished pollination are just starting to push with new growth. So far, so good!
With the rain (hopefully) mostly behind us, we'll be focusing on some very important activities ~ mainly setting up the packing shed for plum harvest! So far, it appears we will be about on time, maybe just a tad bid late, for harvest start. Stay tuned, as we expect we will be starting around Independence Day.
